Dwarf-Medium/Pink/Multi-Petal

*Your lotus tuber may be stored in the crisper of your refrigerator until proper planting time in your area.

*Lotus tubers should be planted by mid-May, when nighttime temperatures are consistently in the 50's and daytime temperatures are consistently in the 70's.

1. Take a 14 inch wide or wider, shallow container filled with heavy loam soil. Heavy loam soil contains equal parts of topsoil, clay and sand. (Purchase an inexpensive bag of topsoil, an inexpensive bag of play sand and a bag of 100% clay kitty litter). (Add a little water as you mix your three ingredients together--this mix should hold together if you grab it). Fill your container 2/3 full of this heavy loam mixture.
2. Dig a trench with your hand through the soil for the long bottom part of the tuber to be placed in the soil. Now gently place the lotus tuber in the trench and carefully cover in the sections between the growth tips which will remain sticking up above the soil.
3. You may place ONE single stone between two growth tips to prevent the lotus tuber from floating once the pot is submerged.
4. Carefully add water to your container with just two inches of water above the surface of the soil or growth tips.
5. Place in FULL SUN, outdoors (8+ hours)

In a week or two, coin leaves will appear on the surface of the water. DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.

Fertilizing Instructions

Once you have aerial leaves on your lotus, it is time to fertilize. Fertilize your Birthday's Peach Lotus  with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for best bloom and optimum growth! Simply press three fertilizer tabs in the soil around the roots, being careful not to damage the roots. Fertilize each month, using three or four fertilizer tabs per month, from June through August.
