Golden Apple Lotus
Golden Apple Lotus has sweet shades of yellow on this delightful specimen, with row after row of ruffled petals. Golden Apple lotus is simply scrumptious with full, rich flowers. The yellow contrasts nicely with the dark green foliage. Golden Apple Lotus nice addition to your pond or in large containers on your terrace, balcony, deck or patio. Golden Appel Lotus grows 4 feet tall or taller when planted in very wide containers!
Plant in a wide (24 - 48 inch or wider), shallow container using loam soil. Dig a trench across the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench with the growth tips pointing up. Be careful not to damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with a couple of inches of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Add four inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. Lotus need 8 hours+ of sunlight! In a week or so, you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. A week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water you may fertilize your lotus.
Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your lotus by pressing four to six fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots. Be careful not to damage the roots. Fertilize your lotus with four to six fertilizer tabs per month during the growing/blooming season.
