Heartthrob Lotus grows to 4 feet tall or taller when planted in wide, shallow containers (24 - 48 inches wide or wider).
Plant this lotus tuber in a wide (24 - 48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench. Make sure you keep the growth tips of the lotus exposed and pointing up. Add 4 - 6 inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location (8+ hours) outdoors. In a week or so your lotus should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or so after the coin leaves you should have aerial leaves on the surface of the water.
Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your lotus by pressing 4 to 6 lotus fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots of your lotus. Be careful not to damage the roots. Do this every month from June through September as these are the growing/blooming months. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom!
