Holy Fire Lotus is a spectacular HEAVY BLOOMING LOTUS with large, 8 inch double flowers!
Plenty of blooms on this beauty all summer long! Flowers are magnificent with beautiful shape and vivid color! Holy Fire Lotus is an attention getting, medium-tall lotus often adorned with multiple blooms all summer when planted in a 18 inch wide or wider, container. Holy Fire Lotus grows to 4 feet tall! Great for growing in front of taller lotus for a layering effect! ALWAYS A SELLOUT!
The Holy Fire Lotus should be planted by the month of May, after all danger of frost has passed. (Lotus may be kept in the crisper of your refrigerator until proper planting time in your area.) Plant your lotus tuber in a wide container 18 - 30 inches wide or wider, shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with soil while keeping the growth tips exposed. Add 4 - 5 inches of water above the soil and place your container in a sunny location outdoors. (Lotus need 8 + hours of sunlight to grow and bloom.) In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water--a week or so after that, you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.
Lotus are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, taking care not to damage the roots. Do this once a month throughout the growing/blooming season, (June through September).
Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
