Meizhong Hong Lotus has lots of casual, breezy blooms in pretty shades of rosy-pink on this small, few petaled lotus. This little lotus looks great in small pots on the patio or deck--any place you have lots of sun! Meizhong Hong Lotus grows 1 - 2 feet tall with lots of blooms!
Plant in wide, shallow container (14 - 20 inches wide, or wider) in diameter. Fill your container 2/3 full of loam soil and dig a trench across the top of the soil. Gently place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Cover all but the growth tips with soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place your lotus tuber in full sun outdoors. Lotus need at least 8 hours or more of sunlight to grow and bloom. In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or so after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves--you may fertilize your lotus with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates. Fertilize once a month throughout the growing/blooming season for robust plants and best bloom! Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year.
