Pretty Flower Lotus
Pretty Flower Lotus has swirls of perfect pinks, soft greens, hints of purple and creamy whites in this magnificent lotus flower. Wider outer petals with dramatic, pointed tips frame the lush, full, inner petals nicely. Simply sweet perfection! Pretty Flower Lotus grows 3 - 4 feet tall
Plant your lotus tuber after all danger of frost has passed. The nights should be consistently in the 50's and the daytime temperatures should be in the 60's or warmer. Plant this small-medium specimen in a wide (14 - 24 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place the tuber in the trench with growth tips pointing up. Be careful not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with an inch or two of soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add two or three inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. (Lotus need 8+ hours of direct sunlight) In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, and in two more weeks you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus!
Lotus are very heavy feeders! We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. Simply press three fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus. Do this once a month during the growing/blooming season (June through August). Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
