Handsome Hero 13
Plenty of blooms on this tall, bright-pink, double-flowering lotus. Beautiful and unusual, also a relative to Handsome Hero!
Plant in a wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench being careful not to damage the growth tips. Gently cover the tuber with a couple of inches of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add four to six inches of water above the tuber and place in a sunny location outdoors (8+ hours of sunlight per day). In a couple of weeks you will have coin leaves growing on the surface of the water. A week or so after that you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your lotus.
Simply press four to six fertilizer tabbs into the soil around the roots of your lotus, do this each month throughout the growing/blooming season, (June through September). We recommend that you fertilize your lotus throughout the growing/blooming season with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom.
