From bud to bloom, this one has it all!!! This lotus specimen definitely has the WOW factor! The blooms are simply splendid in shades of creamy-white with splashes of light- green color on the inner petal tips and violet-purple edges on the outer petals or picotee. The flowers are really big, often 10-14 inches and really exquisite! Buds are splashed with purple markings as well, receptacles are bright-yellow! CUSTOMER FAVORITE!
Plant in a wide (24 to 48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place the lotus tuber in the trench with the growth tips pointing up. Cover the tuber with a couple of inches of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Add 4 to 6 inches of water above the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors. Lotus need 8+ hours of sunlight daily to grow and bloom. In a week or so you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or so after that you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize.
Fertilize monthly during the months of June through September, using 4 to 6 fertilizer tabbs, as these are the growing/blooming months. Simply press the fertilizer tabbs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, taking care not to damage the roots. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom! Your lotus tuber should grow and bloom the very first year!
