Mi Amigo Lotus WOW! Mi Amigo Lotus has 9 - 10 inch blooms in mouthwatering shades of red and pink with white at the base of the petals. Striking-green receptacles and showy, golden stamens add the perfect touch! Mi Amigo Lotus (Friendship Lotus) is a bold and colorful lotus for your water garden feature! Mi Amigo Lotus grows to 4 feet tall or taller when planted in very wide containers (24 - 48 inches wide)
Plant your Mi Amigo Lotus tuber in a wide (24 - 48 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place the tuber in the trench with the growth tips pointing up. Cover all but the growth tips with soil, keeping them exposed. Add 4 to 6 inches of water over the soil and place your lotus in a sunny location outdoors. (8+ hours of sunlight daily) In a week or so you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have two aerial leaves growing out of the water, it is time to fertilize your Mi Amigo lotus.
Simply press 4 to 6 fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your Mi Amigo lotus, being careful not to damage the roots. Do this each month from June through September, as these are the growing/blooming months. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom! Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
