Plant Description
Oregon Sunset River Lily or Kaffir Lily is also known as 'River Lily' and is originally from South Africa. This is a lovely pond plant that grows in or out of the pond. Semi-evergreen foliage produces lovely coral-red blooms late in the summer into fall (August, September and October). The iris-like foliage stays green most of the year and the plant is hardy in zones 6 through 9. The coral-red flowers open on spikes above the foliage. Oregon Sunset Kaffir Lily grows two feet tall with a one foot spread.

Planting Directions
Plant your Oregon Sunset Kaffir Lily in moist, loam soil. (Please see our recipe for 'Loam Soil' on our home page.) Kaffir Lilies may be planted in containers using moist, loam soil and placed in the pond with up to three inches of water above the roots. Kaffir lilies grow best in full sun to part shade and are hardy in zones 6 through 9. When planting in your terrestrial garden, keep soil evenly moist--especially during long, hot droughts. NEVER place stones in the container or on top of the soil as this will hinder the growth of the plant.
