White Peony Lotus is an enchanting, white, multi-petal lotus with lovely, full flowers. Outer petals on the White Peony Lotus are wide and frame the inner petals beautifully. The center petals on these lush flowers are often green--adding color and interest to this eye-catching, HEAVY BLOOMER! This is a tall lotus and will look fabulous in large containers on your patio, deck or terrace as well as in the shallow area of your pond.
How to plant your lotus
Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow container using loam soil. Fill the container 2/3 full with loam soil and dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil. Gently place the lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to damage the growth tips. Cover the lotus tuber with an inch or two of soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add 5 - 6 inches of water above the tuber. Place the lotus container in a sunny area outdoors (8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily). In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water. A week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus
How to fertilize your lotus
Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your lotus. We recommend a slow release fertilizer like Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs. For the first dose of fertilizer, we recommend a 1/2 dose of fertilizer. You may fertilizer your lotus two weeks after the first dose of fertilizer with a full dose of fertilizer. After that, fertilize your lotus once each month for optimum growth and best bloom! Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus, taking care not to damage the roots.
