Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily – An Award-Winning Color Changing Beauty

The Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily is one of the most unusual and striking pond plants available today. Hybridized by Dr. Nopchai Chansilpa, this award-winning hardy water lily dazzles with its unique mix of peach-red, apricot, yellow, and pink tones, often streaked or splashed throughout each bloom. No two flowers are exactly alike, making the Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily a true conversation piece for your pond or water garden.

Compact to medium in size, the Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily produces abundant blossoms throughout the summer, with each bloom set off beautifully by lush green pads. Its unusual striations and vibrant hues make it one of the most desired hardy water lilies among collectors and home gardeners alike.

Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily Proper Planting and Care

  • Planting Depth: Best at 6–16 inches from the soil surface to the waterline; can tolerate up to 24 inches but blooms more shallowly planted.

  • Container Size: 12–15 inch wide pot recommended; also thrives when planted directly in earth-bottom ponds.

  • Soil: Plant only in heavy loam topsoil (never bagged compost or aquatic planting mixes that float and rot).

  • Sunlight Needs: Requires 6+ hours of direct, unobstructed sunlight daily for continuous blooms.

  • Plant Spread: Medium size; perfect for medium and larger garden ponds.

Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily Fertilizing Schedule

  • Fertilize on the 1st and 15th of each month from April through September.

  • Insert 4–5 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets 3–4 inches deep near the rhizome crown.

  • Regular feeding keeps the Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily blooming heavily all season.

Do’s and Don’ts for Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily

Do’s
✅ Plant the Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily in full sun to maximize its unique color striations.
✅ Use wide, shallow containers with heavy loam soil for strong root and bloom development.
✅ Fertilize twice monthly during the growing season for constant flowering.
✅ Divide the rhizome regularly (every 1–2 years) to prevent overcrowding and maintain vigorous blooming.

Don’ts
❌ Do not plant in bagged soil mixes or compost — these float, decompose, and harm the plant.
❌ Do not cover the rhizome with gravel or stones — the crown must remain exposed to sunlight for growth.
❌ Do not let the plant dry out during unpacking; water lilies must remain wet at all times and be planted immediately.
❌ Do not allow floating pond plants (like water lettuce or hyacinths) to shade the Wanvisa Hardy Water Lily — this reduces photosynthesis and flowering.
❌ Do not overcrowd with other lilies; each plant requires open water surface space for pads and flowers.
