Fuschia Pom Pom Hardy Waterlily – A Dazzling Tony Moore Hybrid

The Fuschia Pom Pom Hardy Waterlily is a breathtaking perennial variety from renowned hybridizer Tony Moore. Its vivid, fuchsia-pink blooms float elegantly on the water’s surface, making it an absolute showstopper in any pond. Complemented by bronze-green foliage, this waterlily brings drama, excitement, and eye-catching contrast to your water garden.

Whether planted in a natural, earth-bottom pond or in a large container, Fuschia Pom Pom Waterlily thrives when given proper soil, sunlight, and fertilizer. This is a medium-to-large hardy waterlily and a perfect centerpiece for collectors and home gardeners alike.

Note for Deep South Gardeners: In regions where summer pond bottom temperatures reach 75°F or higher, members of the Pom Pom Series (including Fuschia Pom Pom) may enter summer dormancy and temporarily stop blooming. Growth resumes once temperatures cool.

Fuschia Pom Pom Hardy Waterlily Proper Planting and Care

  • Planting Depth: 6–18 inches from soil surface to the top of the water

  • Container Size: Minimum 15-inch wide aquatic fabric container for potted growth; also suitable for natural, earth-bottom ponds

  • Soil: Heavy loam topsoil from your yard (avoid bagged composts, which float and rot)

  • Sunlight Needs: At least 6 hours of strong, direct sunlight daily for abundant flowering

Fuschia Pom Pom Hardy Waterlily Fertilizing Schedule

  • Fertilize on the 1st and 15th of each month during the growing season (April–September).

  • Use 4–6 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets, placed 3–4 inches deep into the soil near the rhizome.

  • Consistent feeding ensures strong foliage, more flowers, and longer bloom duration.

Do’s and Don’ts for Fuschia Pom Pom Hardy Waterlily

✅ Do:

  • Plant in full sun with unobstructed light for best blooms.

  • Use heavy loam soil in a large, wide container or directly in earth-bottom ponds.

  • Fertilize regularly for continual flowering.

  • Divide rhizomes every 1–2 years to prevent overcrowding and keep plants vigorous.

❌ Don’t:

  • Do not allow the plant to dry out during unpacking — stems, pads, and rhizomes must stay moist. Plant immediately on arrival.

  • Do not place stones or pea gravel on top of the soil — this restricts growth and suffocates the crown.

  • Do not let floating plants or neighboring lilies shade Fuschia Pom Pom — the pads must stay exposed to the sun for maximum growth and flowers.

  • Do not plant too deep, as shallow planting encourages heavier blooming.
