Pairait Songpanich in Thailand made the first incredible breakthroughs and other water lily hybridizers have followed his direction. Detective Erika is miles ahead of other Purple Hardy Water Lilies. The flowers are large and she is a heavy bloomer. The color of purple is on point as bright and vibrant. Violicious would be our current second choice. A good bloomer and still nice shade of purple. None of the hardy water lilies can hold a candle to the day blooming annual water lilies like Galaxy, Plum Crazy, or Ultra Violet but Detective Erika and Violicious can make any pond that experiences cold winters a happy place.
