Micrantha, Blue Lotus of West Africa - truly, Micrantha is a small blue waterlily/lotus that is very easy for beginners. Plant in full sun in a 7 inch or wider pot with loam soil and never use stones or other media and fertilize every 2-3 weeks with 3-4 fertilizer tablets around the roots about 3 inches deep. As long as it is in full sun you should have an easy blooming waterlily! Great for any size pond or even half whisky barrels in full all day sun. Similar to Cerulea, the Blue Lotus of the Nile for its color and properties as fragrance. This smaller lily is very heavy blooming and easy to grow. The terms waterlily and lotus were often used interchangeably across Africa and Asia for a long time before plant classification separated the names. Micrantha can be viviparous late in the season from the leaves.
