Sup Sothorn Tropical Water Lily

The Sup Sothorn Water Lily is a beautiful viviparous Thai tropical variety, compact in growth but capable of producing large, radiant golden-yellow flowers when well-fertilized. Its cheerful blooms rise gracefully above classic green pads, offering an elegant contrast and constant summer color. Known for its ease of growth, Sup Sothorn is one of the best tropical water lilies for beginners, rewarding even first-time water gardeners with steady blooms and reliable performance.

Perfect for medium ponds or decorative water garden features, the Sup Sothorn Tropical Water Lily is admired for its unique golden tones and straightforward care. With proper planting in loam soil and consistent feeding, it quickly becomes a favorite in any pond plants collection.

🌱 Planting & Care Instructions

  • Water Lily Size: Medium tropical variety

  • Spread: 3.5–6 feet, depending on fertilizing and pot size

  • Container Size: 2-gallon wide, shallow fabric pond pot recommended

  • Depth: Best blooming at 6–15 inches below water surface; tolerates up to 24 inches, but with fewer blooms at greater depths

  • Soil: Heavy loam only (never bagged potting soil with compost—it rots underwater). Use natural topsoil from beneath sod if available, or PondGro Aquatic Loam Soil with up to 40% sand.

  • Fertilizing: Apply 4–5 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets on the 1st and 15th of each month, pressed 3 inches into the soil around the crown. Fertilize consistently for large, abundant blooms.

  • Fragrance: Light, sweet scent

  • Winter Hardiness: USDA Zones 9–12 (annual elsewhere)

📦 Seasonal Shipping Information for Tropical Water Lilies

Tropical water lilies are often ready a few weeks later than other pond plants in spring. They typically ship between May and August/September when warm weather ensures healthy growth.

  • If your order includes a tropical water lily, the entire order will be held until the tropical is available.

  • If you want to receive other pond plants sooner, please place two separate orders.

  • In northern regions, tropical water lilies are generally ready just as it becomes safe to ship pond plants to your area.

💡 PondMegastore Tip: As a viviparous water lily, Sup Sothorn may produce plantlets on its leaves late in the season—perfect for easy propagation and sharing with other pond gardeners.

✅ Do’s & ❌ Don’ts for Sup Sothorn Water Lily

Do’s

✅ Fertilize twice monthly with 4–5 tablets
✅ Keep planting depth 6–15 inches for best blooming
