Andreana Hardy Waterlily – Small Size, Big Beauty

The Andreana Hardy Waterlily is a delightful small red water lily that adds charm and elegance to any pond, tub, or container garden. Its striking red blooms darken as they mature, creating a dramatic effect that looks incredible against the green lily pads splashed with red blotches. Golden-yellow stamens accent the center, adding a warm glow to every flower.

Though compact in size, the Andreana Hardy Waterlily is big on beauty and blooms generously all summer long until frost. This variety is a true gem for smaller ponds and water features where space is limited but vibrant color is desired.

Andreana Hardy Waterlily Proper Planting and Care

  • Container Size: Plant in a 12–14 inch wide container to give the rhizomes enough space to grow.

  • Soil Type: Use heavy loam soil only. Avoid bagged soil mixes, which are high in compost and will rot in water.

  • Depth from Soil to Water Surface: Place 5–20 inches beneath the surface of the water.

  • Sunlight Requirements: Full sun (5+ hours minimum) is necessary for strong flowering.

  • Best Planting Time: Begin in spring once water temperatures are consistently 62–65°F. Do not plant later than 4–5 weeks before your region’s first frost date.

Andreana Hardy Waterlily Fertilizing Schedule

  • Fertilize on the 1st and 15th of each month throughout the growing season (typically May–September).

  • Use 2–3 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets per feeding, pressing them 3–4 inches into the soil near the crown.

  • Consistent feeding ensures continuous blooms and healthy foliage.

Do’s and Don’ts for Andreana Hardy Waterlily

✅ Do:

  • Plant Andreana Hardy Waterlily in full sun for vibrant, healthy blooms.

  • Use only heavy loam soil in aquatic fabric containers or natural pond soil.

  • Repot and divide the rhizomes every 1–2 years to avoid overcrowding and encourage flowering.

  • Provide a stable environment with calm water and steady sunlight.

❌ Don’t:

  • Do not let the plant dry out during unpacking. Waterlilies lose moisture quickly, so pot and submerge immediately upon arrival.

  • Do not use bagged compost or gravel as planting media—this leads to poor performance and rotting.

  • Do not allow floating plants or nearby lilies to shade Andreana Hardy Waterlily. Crowding prevents proper growth and bloom production.

  • Do not delay planting in spring; water must be warm enough (62–65°F) for healthy establishment.
