Torch of Bali Hardy ISG Water Lily – A Spectacular Heavy Bloomer

Torch of Bali is a hardy × tropical cross (ISG) water lily that dazzles with bold, vibrant blooms and a heavy flowering pattern. Unlike standard hardy lilies, Torch of Bali thrives with extra care—bigger pots, more fertilizer, and regular dividing. The payoff? Spectacular flowers, abundant blooming, and strong tropical-like growth.

This water lily is hardy to Zone 6 and above, but because of its tropical parentage, it comes up later in the spring than standard hardy varieties.

Special Planting & Shipping Conditions

  • Later Spring Shipping: ISGs emerge late—Torch of Bali will not ship early. Orders are held until water temperatures are suitable.

  • Warm Water Needed: Plant only when water temps are consistently warm (70°F at root level) to avoid dormancy.

  • Shallow Placement: Always start in shallower water (6–14 inches deep) to encourage strong growth before lowering deeper.

  • Extra Fertilizer & Division: This variety thrives on 4–6 tablets twice monthly and needs annual dividing to maintain bloom power.

Torch of Bali Planting Instructions

  • Container: 15–24 inch wide pot (fabric pots preferred for best rhizome spread).

  • Soil: Heavy loam soil only—never bagged mixes.

  • Depth (Soil to Water Surface): 6–14 inches for strongest blooms.

  • Sunlight: Full, direct sun (6+ hours, including midday).

  • Fertilizer: 4–6 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs on the 1st and 15th each month during the growing season.

  • Spread: 5–6 feet once mature.

Do’s and Don’ts

✅ Do:

  • Use a large pot for root expansion.

  • Fertilize twice monthly for heavy blooming.

  • Place in shallow water first for strong establishment.

  • Provide full, direct sunlight daily.

❌ Don’t:

  • Don’t plant too early in cold water—Torch of Bali will stay dormant.

  • Don’t let floating plants or crowding block sunlight—this reduces blooms.

  • Don’t cover the rhizome with gravel or stone.

  • Don’t skip annual dividing—overcrowded roots stop flowering.
