Inferno - New Taro - Elephant Ear!
For Spring & Summer Shipping, Inferno!
3-4 feet Tall , watch the deep pink explode as the dark black taro starts to reach maturity. As in most Taro with center colors this one sports its central colors around two feet tall and taller so be sure to fertilize your taro to get the larger leaves and if not planting in the ground provide an adequate size pot and soil. When growing in a pond we suggest never using any stones but always a heavy loam topsoil with clay and sandy base (topsoil is sand, silt and clay). Plant at the water surface and no more than roots below the waterline in part shade in warm conditions.
When you get your taro/elephant ear you should replant in its new large pot however acclimate this for 3-4 days out of direct sunlight on the north side of your home in a calm tray of water letting the pot uptake the moisture it needs until it acclimates some new roots and then move that new larger pot into the pond around the 4th day moving if in direct sunlight to prevent wilting after acclimation.
If adding to a pond after weather is hot be sure to acclimate from direct sunlight on any transplant for 3-5 days after transplanting or your existing foliage will wilt .
Fertilize monthly with 3 or 4 waterlily world or pond tabb fertilizer tablets in a pond or water garden.
