Wimolrat Hardy Water Lily — XL Deep Pink Blooms for Big Ponds

Wimolrat is a brand-new, extra-large hardy water lily from Thailand with massive, vibrant blooms that can be seen from far away—perfect for earth-bottom ponds and large water gardens where you want a true showpiece. Flowers are an impressive 5.5 to 8.75 inches across, making Wimolrat one of the biggest-flowering hardy water lilies you can grow when given sun, space, and steady feeding.

If you have a big pond and want bold color that comes back year after year, Wimolrat is one of the most exciting new pond plants we’ve seen.

Why Customers Love It

  • Huge deep pink flowers (5.5–8.75") with dramatic pond-wide visibility

  • Excellent for earth-bottom ponds and large water features

  • Performs beautifully in very wide pots in lined ponds when fertilized

  • Hardy perennial water lily that returns each season when planted properly

Plant Requirements (quick reference)

  • Sun: Full sun, 6+ hours of strong midday light

  • Container: 18"+ wide shallow aquatic container (fabric pots preferred)

  • Depth (soil surface → water surface): 6–24" to establish (shallower = faster growth and more blooms)

    • Once well established, it can handle 3–4 ft depth, though deeper placement typically means fewer blooms

  • Soil: Heavy loam topsoil only (no bagged mix, peat, “aquatic media,” or gravel)

Care & Fertilizing (simple schedule)

  • Season: Late May through September (often into early October in warm areas)

  • Fertilizer tablets (in pots): 6–8 tablets per month

    • Easy method: 3–4 tablets on the 1st + 3–4 tablets on the 15th

  • Maintenance: Trim spent blooms/yellow leaves; divide yearly in containers to keep flowering strong

Water Lily Planting Tips

  • Plant shallower (6–12") first to warm the crown and size up quickly

  • Give it open surface space—pads are “solar panels” that power flowers

  • Never cover the crown with stones or gravel; keep it slightly exposed

  • Big pot = big results: wide, shallow containers help rhizomes run and bloom more

Do’s & Don’ts

Do

  • Plant Wimolrat in full sun and heavy loam

  • Use an 18"+ wide container if not planting in an earth-bottom pond

  • Fertilize twice monthly for continued blooming

  • Repot immediately on arrival; keep all parts wet while planting

Don’t

  • ❌ Don’t use compost/peat mixes, “aquatic media,” or gravel (they float/rot/smother crowns)

  • ❌ Don’t let floaters shade the pads—shade = fewer blooms

  • ❌ Don’t start too deep; establish first at 6–24" for best growth and flowering
