-
Sun: Full sun, 6+ hours of strong midday light
-
Container: 18"+ wide shallow aquatic container (fabric pots preferred)
-
Depth (soil surface → water surface): 6–24" to establish (shallower = faster growth and more blooms)
-
Once well established, it can handle 3–4 ft depth, though deeper placement typically means fewer blooms
-
-

Care & Fertilizing (simple schedule)
-
Season: Late May through September (often into early October in warm areas)
-
Fertilizer tablets (in pots): 6–8 tablets per month
-
Easy method: 3–4 tablets on the 1st + 3–4 tablets on the 15th
-
-
Maintenance: Trim spent blooms/yellow leaves; divide yearly in containers to keep flowering strong
Water Lily Planting Tips
-
Plant shallower (6–12") first to warm the crown and size up quickly
-
Give it open surface space—pads are “solar panels” that power flowers
-
Never cover the crown with stones or gravel; keep it slightly exposed
-
Big pot = big results: wide, shallow containers help rhizomes run and bloom more
Do’s & Don’ts
Do
-
Plant Wimolrat in full sun and heavy loam
-
Use an 18"+ wide container if not planting in an earth-bottom pond
-
Fertilize twice monthly for continued blooming
-
Repot immediately on arrival; keep all parts wet while planting
Don’t
-
❌ Don’t use compost/peat mixes, “aquatic media,” or gravel (they float/rot/smother crowns)
-
❌ Don’t let floaters shade the pads—shade = fewer blooms
-
❌ Don’t start too deep; establish first at 6–24" for best growth and flowering
