Manee Red Hardy Waterlily

Plant Description

Manee Red Hardy Waterlily is a brilliant-red, perennial waterlily with solid green pads. Manee Red Waterlily was introduced by hybridizer, Pairat Songpanich in 2006. This is the red you've been waiting for!!! Manee Red Waterlily has brilliant red blooms that reach 5 - 6 inches across on mature plants along with 8 inch solid green pads. The cup shaped flowers are drenched with intense, true red color and look fabulous in the water. (This red hybrid may burn in the deep south, but does extremely well everywhere else!)

Manee Red Hardy Waterlily is Medium to Large in size and looks great in medium and large ponds.

Why Choose This Hardy Water Lily?

Cold-tough: A true hardy water lily returns each spring when planted properly.

Container-friendly: Planting in pots makes moving and depth-tuning easy for any size water garden.

Beginner-approved: With sun, calm water, and monthly tablets, these pond plants reward you with steady blooms.

Q: Are hardy water lilies good pond plants for beginners?
A: Yes. Hardy water lilies thrive in calm water with sun and simple monthly fertilizer. They’re among the easiest flowering pond plants.

Q: How deep do I plant a hardy water lily?
A: Start 6–8 inches of water over the crown, then lower to 12–24 inches as growth picks up. Dwarf types prefer shallower water.

Q: What soil should I use?
A: Use heavy garden loam (not fluffy potting mix). Top with ½ inch sand or pea gravel to keep soil from floating.

Q: How often do hardy water lilies need fertilizer?
A: Monthly during the growing season (typically May–September) using aquatic tablet fertilizer.

Planting Instructions

Plant your Manee Red Waterlily in a very wide (14 inch or wider), shallow container or extra large fabric planter. Use loam soil or aquatic planting media and place 1 - 2 feet beneath the surface of the water, in full sun. Fertilize throughout the growing/blooming season with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for best bloom and vigorous plant growth. Simply press 4 - 5 fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots of your waterlilies. Do this once a month throughout the season.
