Planting Instructions

This is a true aquatic plant and is at home in your water garden. Plant your Ra Canna in a very large container using loam soil and place where it will be protected from the wind. You may put large rocks at the very bottom of the container, before you add loam soil, to help the plant withstand a strong wind gust in the pond. Place your container in full sun to part shade (blooms best in full sun) with a couple of inches of water above the roots of the canna. Fertilize once a month with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabbs, June through August.

In your terrestrial garden, plant in loam soil with 2 - 4 inches of soil above the rhizomes in full sun to part shade. Ra Canna blooms best in full sun. Plant in an area where plants will be protected from strong wind gusts as they grow 4 - 5 feet tall. Fertilize once a month throughout the growing/blooming season, June through August. In northern climates, after first frost, use a shovel to carefully lift rhizomes from the soil, taking care not to damage the rhizome, shake off excess dirt, trim off any foliage and dry in a well ventilated area outdoors for 7 - 10 days. Store your canna rhizomes in a cool, dark, well ventilated area indoors throughout the winter months and replant after all danger of frost has passed.

Fun Fact  'Ra' was the sun god of Egypt in the 25th century and was identified as one of the most important gods in the ancient Egyptian religion.
