Mali Hardy Water Lily

The Mali Water Lily is a new small, pure white hardy variety, prized for its double-petal blooms and dependable performance. The first Hardy Water Lily to bloom for us every spring! Measuring 2–4 inches across, these delicate flowers feature more petals than any other small white hardy water lily we have encountered. Its compact green pads (3–4 inches) make this variety ideal for small ponds, tub gardens, and intimate water features.

The Mali Hardy Water Lily is not only charming but also an excellent bloomer, bringing repeated flushes of pristine white blossoms throughout the growing season. For water gardeners seeking a refined, compact, and reliable white lily, Mali is a perfect choice.

🌱 Planting & Care Instructions

  • Mali Water Lily Size: Small, hardy perennial

  • Spread: Compact; great for small ponds and containers

  • Suggested Pot Size: 9-14 inch wide shallow container for best rhizome growth and blooms

  • Mali Water Lily Planting Depth: Place the crown so the soil surface is 6–14 inches beneath the water surface

  • Soil: Use heavy loam soil only. Never use bagged potting soil (contains compost that rots in water) or stones/gravel. If loam isn’t available, use PondGro Aquatic Loam Soil, optionally mixed with up to 40% sand.

  • How to Fertilize Your Mali Water Lily: Apply 3–4 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets on the 1st and 15th of each month during the growing season. Consistent feeding ensures continuous flowering.

  • Fragrance of the Mali Water Lily: Light, delicate fragrance

  • Winter Hardiness: Fully hardy perennial in USDA Zones 3–11
