Izia Hardy Water Lily – A Sunny Yellow Showstopper

The Izia Hardy Water Lily is a radiant, medium-sized perennial waterlily that shines like a burst of sunshine across your pond. Its blossoms glow in warm sunny-yellow tones, standing out beautifully against its lush green pads. With its consistent blooming habit and easy-care nature, Izia Hardy Water Lily adds cheer, brightness, and elegance to any water garden.

This variety is floriferous (producing many blooms) and thrives when given full sunlight, proper fertilization, and space to grow. Whether you have a container pond, a lined feature, or a natural earth-bottom pond, Izia Hardy Water Lily is a versatile choice that delivers color from late spring until frost. A perfect option for both seasoned gardeners and beginners alike!

Izia Hardy Water Lily Proper Planting and Care

  • Container Size: Use a 14–16 inch wide fabric grow pot or larger for best results. Wider pots encourage more rhizome growth and abundant flowering.

  • Soil: Plant in heavy loam topsoil only. Avoid bagged composts or mixes with peat, which float and rot in water.

  • Planting Depth: Place the crown so the soil-to-water surface depth is 6–18 inches. Start shallower (6–10 inches) for establishing young plants, then move deeper if desired.

  • Sunlight Needs: Izia Hardy Water Lily requires 6+ hours of full, direct sun daily. More sunlight equals more blooms.

  • Spacing: Provide at least 2–3 feet of surface spread for pads. Do not allow floating plants or nearby lilies to crowd it out.

Izia Hardy Water Lily Fertilizing Schedule

  • Fertilize on the 1st and 15th of each month throughout the growing season (April–September).

  • Use 3–4 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets, pressing them 3–4 inches into the soil near the rhizome’s growing point.

  • Consistent fertilization ensures daily blooms and vibrant, healthy foliage.

Do’s and Don’ts for Izia Hardy Water Lily

Do plant in full sun and a wide, shallow container with loam soil.
Do fertilize consistently twice monthly during the growing season.
Do divide and repot every 1–2 years to prevent rhizome overcrowding.

Don’t let the rhizome dry out on arrival—pot immediately and submerge.
Don’t use bagged potting soil, compost, gravel, or rocks. These hinder growth and can kill lilies.
Don’t let other plants, such as floating hyacinths or crowding lilies, block sunlight. Each pad must reach the surface for blooms to continue.
