Perry’s Double Yellow Hardy Waterlily – Showy, Lush Double Blooms

Perry’s Double Yellow Hardy Waterlily is a radiant showstopper! Its lush, full double flowers measure 6–7.5 inches across, bursting in layers of bright golden-yellow petals. Each bloom is bold and striking, often standing just above the surface of the water despite its impressive size and fullness.

The large, grass-green lily pads are naturally round with a semi-open sinus and delicate chestnut mottling, perfectly complementing the sunny blossoms. With a spread of 4–6 feet, Perry’s Double Yellow Hardy Waterlily is a bold choice for medium to large ponds, where it adds glowing elegance and charm all summer long.

This variety is one of the most dramatic double-flowering hardy waterlilies available—truly a statement piece for your water garden.

Perry’s Double Yellow Hardy Waterlily Planting and Care

  • Best Planting Depth: 12–24 inches of water over the crown for ideal blooming.

  • Container Size: At least 16–20 inches wide; wide aquatic fabric containers are best. This variety also thrives directly in earth-bottom ponds.

  • Soil: Heavy loam topsoil is required. Do not use bagged compost mixes (which float and rot in water).

  • Sunlight Needs: A minimum of 6 hours of full, direct sunlight daily. More light means bigger and brighter blooms.

  • Fertilization: Feed with 4–6 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs on the 1st and 15th of each month, pushed 3–4 inches deep around the rhizome.

  • Dividing: Divide and repot every 1–2 years, as rhizomes grow quickly and blooms diminish when overcrowded.

Do’s and Don’ts for Perry’s Double Yellow Hardy Waterlily

Do plant in full, direct sun for maximum flower size and color intensity.
Do use heavy loam soil in large aquatic containers or directly in an earth-bottom pond.
Do fertilize consistently through the growing season for continual blooms.
Do provide room to spread—this is a large variety with showy flowers that needs space.

Don’t let the plant dry out when unpacking. All roots, stems, and pads must remain wet. Plant immediately upon arrival.
Don’t overcrowd with other waterlilies or floating plants; sunlight must reach the crown for blooms to form.
Don’t place stones, pea gravel, or bagged mixes on top of the soil. These suffocate the crown and hinder flowering.
Don’t plant in shaded areas. Less than 6 hours of sun will reduce blooming dramatically.
