Plant this tall specimen in a 24 - 48 wide or wider, shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench with growth points pointing up. Cover the tuber with soil leaving the growth points exposed. Add four inched of water above the soil, being careful not to disturb your lotus tuber. Place in a sunny location outdoors where it will receive at least 8 hours or more of sunlight daily. In a week or two coin leaves will appear on the surface of the water, a week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the soil. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus.
Once you have aerial leaves you may fertilize your Glory Lotus with four to six fertilizer tabs per month during the growing/blooming season (June through September). Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots of your lotus being careful not to disturb the roots or damage them. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for ease of use, optimum growth and best bloom!
