Rassameechan Annual Water Lily — Fragrant Two-Tone Purple Beauty (New From Thailand)

Rassameechan Annual Water Lily is a stunning new Thai introduction with a rich, two-tone purple flower that looks smoky and luxurious on the water. Blooms open with a medium-to-deeper purple outer color and a lighter, smoky inner tone, creating depth and dimension that photographs beautifully and looks even better in person. With well-stacked petals and a highly fragrant bloom, Rassameechan is the kind of annual water lily that makes your pond feel like a botanical garden.

A medium-to-large annual variety, it spreads about 4–6 feet in good conditions and performs best in full sun with regular fertilizer.

Why Customers Love It

  • Two-tone purple blooms (deep outer petals, smoky lighter inner tones)

  • Highly fragrant—one of those lilies you can smell at pond-side

  • Well-stacked petals for a refined, premium flower form

  • A beautiful Thai annual water lily for collectors and everyday gardeners

Plant Requirements (quick reference)

  • Type: Annual water lily

  • Sun: Full sun, 6+ hours of strong midday light

  • Container: 3–7 gallon wide aquatic pot (fabric pots preferred)

  • Depth (soil surface → water surface): 8–18 inches for best blooming

  • Spread: ~4–6 ft across

  • Soil: Heavy loam topsoil only (no bagged mix, peat, compost, “aquatic media,” or gravel)

Care & Fertilizing (simple schedule)

  • Fertilizer tablets: 4–6 tablets on the 1st & 15th each month (May–September)

  • Application: Push tablets 3–4" into the soil around (not on) the crown

  • Maintenance: Remove spent flowers and yellow leaves to encourage new blooms

Water Lily Planting Tips

  • Plant shallower (8–12") to warm the crown and increase bud production

  • Keep surface water open—pads are solar panels for flowering

  • Give the plant room; crowded pads = fewer flowers

  • Still water shows blooms best; avoid splashing/aeration directly over pads

Do’s & Don’ts

Do

  • Plant in full sun and heavy loam

  • Use a wide container so the crown can expand

  • Fertilize twice monthly for continuous blooming

  • Repot immediately on arrival; keep all parts wet while planting

Don’t

  • ❌ Don’t use compost/peat mixes, “aquatic media,” or gravel/stones

  • ❌ Don’t let floating plants shade the pads

  • ❌ Don’t underfeed—this lily performs best with consistent nutrition
