Plant Colorific Louisiana Iris in full sun to part shade (at least 5 hours of sun per day) in your water garden bog area, your terrestrial garden or in containers in the pond. Colorific is nice addition to streambeds as well. For the pond, plant your Louisiana Iris in loam soil using a 12 inch wide by 12 inch deep container, or larger, with holes and place pots in pond with up to 2 inches of water over the top of the pot. (Fabric Planting Containers are excellent for all of your Louisiana Iris). Fertilize Louisiana Iris in the pond with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for robust plants and more bloom. Colorific Louisiana Iris may be planted in streambeds or on banks of natural ponds if soil is kept consistently moist. For your terrestrial garden, dig holes a little larger than the bulbs, 3 - 4 inches deep. Add rich compost to the soil  and plant the rhizomes with pointed end up and roots facing down, cover with a half inch to an inch of soil and water well.  Will tolerate occasional flooding. Blooms in late spring or early summer, depending on zone.  In northern climates, apply heavy mulch after first frost to keep cold weather from damaging rhizomes throughout the winter. Remove heavy mulch in the spring. Divide your Colorific Louisiana Iris every two-three years, as needed.
