Water Poppies are cheerful, little pond plants with tri-petaled yellow blooms that spread across the surface of the water with small, lily-like, green pads on this ornamental pond plant! Water Poppies add a pop of color and texture on the surface of the water adding shade for fish and taking up nutrients from the water. Plants spread by sending out stems across the surface of the water.

Plant water poppies in small containers using heavy loam soil and place the container in the shallow end of your pond with tops of pots 2 - 6 inches beneath the surface of the water. Flowers grow 2 - 3 inches tall while leaves float on the surface of the water. Plant in full sun to part shade. Bring indoors before first frost and overwinter in tubs or aquariums with strong grow lights.
