Golden Hearts or Floating Harts are a yellow nymphoides lily like plant that is hardy when planted in a small pot and grown in shallow water 3 to 12 inches deep. The water lily like pads come to the surface in spring and these bloom in summer in calm water with full sun.

Remember to use loam soil from your yard or garden instead of soil from a bag with no organic additives. At garden centers, the topsoil from bags is now heavily mixed with organic decaying debris, such as mulch. This debris can float and rot in the pond, causing algae. If loam soil is unavailable in your area (for example, in most of Florida, where the yard is sand), you can purchase PondGro loam soil from this website. This soil is safe for all plants and animals. Loam can be more clay or sand, depending on where you live. Please do not use all clay kitty litter or all stones as a planting medium, as your plants are very likely to perish or not thrive as they should.

When considering Golden Heart or Floating Heart plants for your pond, it's important to note that they are unsuitable for ponds with large koi, as the koi may eat them. Plant them in a 4- to 6-inch pot with loamy soil to ensure their optimal growth.
