Ellisiana is a delightful red, hardy waterlily that is small to medium in size. The 4 - 5 inch pads of Ellisiana are green and oval in shape with a hint of red in the pads. This waterlily is a hybrid of Latour-Marliac and is free flowering and the four inch blooms are stellate in shape. This a perfect choice for small to medium ponds or container gardens and has a 24 - 30 inch spread. Ellisiana prefers cooler climates, as it slows down flower production in extreme heat.
Plant your Ellisiana Hardy Waterlily in a wide, shallow container using loam soil. (Please see our recipe for loam soil on our home page.) Keep the crown of the plant above the soil. Place Ellisiana Waterlily 12 - 18 inches beneath the surface of the water in full sun. Never place rocks in or on the planting container as this may hinder the growth of your waterlily. Fertilize throughout the summer months for robust plants and best bloom! Please see our Home Page for directions on how to make loam soil.
