Baby Doll Lotus
Baby Doll Lotus is a petite, crisp-white lotus specimen with bright -yellow receptacles and emerald-green foliage. This little pixie will add a lovely-lively touch to your water garden setting! Baby Doll Lotus is an excellent little bloomer, once established! Baby Doll Lotus grows 1 - 2 feet tall when grown in wide, shallow containers. Baby Doll Lotus makes a nice addition when grown in containers and placed in sunny areas of your deck or patio!
Plant your lotus tuber in the month of May, after all danger of frost has passed. (Lotus tubers may be stored in the crisper of your refrigerator until proper planting time in your area). Plant your lotus tuber in a wide (14 - 20 inches wide, or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, taking care not to break or damage the growth tips. Cover the tuber with soil while leaving the growth tips exposed. Add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place your lotus in a sunny location outdoors. Lotus need 8 + hours of sunlight to grow and bloom. In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or to after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, it is time to fertilize your lotus.
Lotus are very heavy feeders, we recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth, best bloom and ease of use. DO NOT fertilize until you have at least two aerial leaves growing out of the water!
